For so long I felt like I lived in a venn diagram of one — that I was the only one with my class background [wealthy, upper class upbringing] and my politics [radical, as in looking to the roots of the crises we’re living in]. I know that so many people are feeling that way right now, like “I am against everything the Trump administration is doing, but have no idea how to stop these injustices. What part can I even play in social movements as a wealthy person?” This changed for me when I joined Resource Generation, and then, a few years later, Solidaire Network. I learned that not only was I not alone, but part of a lineage of owning and upper class people standing in solidarity with the poor and working-class, and Black, Indigenous and immigrant communities. I learned that when we move collectively — building deep relationship with one another and the movements we all need to win the world we all deserve — so much more becomes possible. Next week I’ll be one of the speakers talking about Solidaire at Donors Against MAGA: How Donors Can Stand Up to Trump & Musk’s Agenda.
